Equality, Diversity & Inclusion (EDI) Policy
Organisation: West Oxfordshire Performing Arts Foundation (WOXPAF) & Oxfordshire Festival of Speech, Drama & Musical Theatre (OFSDMT)
1. INTRODUCTION
WOXPAF are committed to promoting equality, diversity, and inclusion in all aspects of our work. We believe that everyone should be treated with dignity and respect, and we strive to create an environment that is welcoming, inclusive, and free from discrimination.
2. DEFINITIONS
- Equality: Ensuring individuals or groups are not treated less favourably based on protected characteristics.
- Diversity: Recognising, respecting, and valuing differences in people.
- Inclusion: Creating an environment where everyone feels welcomed, respected, and able to participate fully.
3. LEGAL FRAMEWORK
This policy is guided by the Equality Act 2010 and other relevant legislation. We are committed to ensuring compliance with all applicable laws that protect individuals from discrimination on the basis of age, disability, gender reassignment, marriage and civil partnership, pregnancy and maternity, race, religion or belief, sex, and sexual orientation.
4. INCLUSIVE LANGUAGE
We encourage the use of inclusive language in all communications, performances, and documentation. Language should reflect respect for all individuals and avoid stereotypes or assumptions based on identity or background.
5. ACCESSIBILITY
WOXPAF are committed to making our events, venues, and materials accessible to all. We will ensure that reasonable adjustments are made to accommodate individuals with disabilities or additional needs. This includes physical access, communication support, and inclusive programming.
6. TRAINING AND AWARENESS
All trustees, staff, and volunteers will receive guidance on equality, diversity, and inclusion. We will provide training opportunities to raise awareness and promote inclusive practices across our organisation and events.
7. MONITORING AND EVALUATION
We will regularly review our policies, procedures, and practices to ensure they are inclusive and effective. Feedback from participants, volunteers, and stakeholders will be used to inform improvements and address any barriers to inclusion.
8. ACCOUNTABILITY
The Board of Trustees is responsible for ensuring the implementation of this policy. All individuals involved in WOXPAF activities are expected to uphold the principles of equality, diversity, and inclusion. Any breaches of this policy will be taken seriously and addressed in line with our complaints and disciplinary procedures.
9. INTERSECTIONALITY
We recognise that individuals may face multiple and intersecting forms of discrimination. Our approach considers the complexity of overlapping identities.
10. REVIEW
This policy will be reviewed annually by the Board of Trustees.
